2007 CANDIDATES FOR USARM BOAD OF DIRECTORS

Rusty Williams I am interested in becoming a USARM BOD member. My father was an old street racer from the 60's in Sacramento so I grew up around fast cars all my life. During my teen years I also had my own hotrods, always working under the hood. The idea of horsepower and racing has always been and always will be in my blood. Being around a racetrack and involved was always my dream.

USARM has made my dream a reality. This organization has given me the ability to be up front, close and personal with the racing world. But even more so, we are the eyes and ears for the drivers, providing the most crucial aspect in the world of motor racing, which is safety. Being able to keep the drivers safe at some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives is a feeling that cannot be matched by any other job. In fact, I do not see 'course marshal' as a job. In my eyes, being a course marshal has become the ideal way for me to be able to give something back.

I believe we easily have the ability to become the best flagging organization. I couldn't imagine myself not being intimately involved with and seeing USARM move in a direction to be the best at what we do.

Please accept my formal request to become part of the BOD as I believe my contribution would be a strong asset to the USARM family.

Sincerely,
Rusty Williams

Candidate statement USARM Board of Directors for Jim Hileman.

I have been on the Board of Directors for USARM a short time and I can see there is a lot to be done. I am not working for me but for all USARM members. I have been and will continue to work for you. If there is an issue that I feel needs your input I will ask for your valuable information.

This year there are four directors to be elected. I feel it is important to elect an experienced person to the board & I feel that I have a lot of that experience and am more than willing to learn and gain more as the years progress.

Thank you for your support in making USARM the professional organization is has become.

Jim Short Fellow USARM members, I have decided to run for reelection to the Board of Directors of this prestigious club.

This is the end of my third year as a board member. We have had some ups and downs, both as a club and as a Board of Directors trying to set a course for this club to follow. For the most part, I have enjoyed my association with this board and the members of this club. I believe that I have been a positive influence on the activities of USARM.

I have been the Training Chairman since I created this position 3 years ago. Although this activity has not generated the response that I envisioned, it is nevertheless a necessary program for USARM both as a professional organization and as a group of race marshals trying to improve our abilities and our image in the racing community. To this end, I am pledged to continue to better our standards as the best race worker entity in the world.

Please give me your support and allow me to help you become the best.

Thanks,
Jim Short
Training Chairman

Grid Editor The current Grid editor will be looking for a replacement beginning in Jan. 2007. If you are interested in making sure the USARM membership is kept informed, Please contact Kati James,

The Grid is an essential part of the USARM information network and it would be missed by the membership if it were to stop being published.

It will be up to the general membership to carry on this tradition of having a monthly newsletter, including USARM schedules, current BoD minutes, financial reports and other information that provides USARM and it's members with all the most current information.

It has been my pleasure, for the past 3 years, to be the Grid editor, but time constraints have become such that it not feasible for me to continue.

Thanks to all who have helped with the Grid and to those who have contributed.

Kati James
Director
USARM President/Grid Editor

We attended the annual Russell banquet last night. It was held at The Lodge at Sonoma which is a beautiful inn and a gracious tourist destination. The menu included: Grilled Ribeye of Beef, Grilled Rosemary Chicken Breast, and Roasted Salmon. For dessert we had Scharffenberger Chocolate Mousse with Cocoa Nib Floretines served with Grand Marnier Chantilly. Awards were presented, a video was shown, and drawings were held for prizes. The second annual SCCA Formula Russell Championship USARM Worker of the Year Award went to none other than Kitty Brenek for her faithfull dedication to the Club and Russell Racing.

Those in attendance were Darlyn and Tim Pettenati, Karen and Jerry Huff, Kitty and Paul Brenek, Jackie and Larry Zeigler, and Jim Short. A good time was had by all with promises to have more next year.

We are working on a second annual Russell Worker breakfast hosted by Guy Aronson. We have tried unsuccessfully to have a BBQ during the wormer weather but could not find an appropriate date. So we are working on the breakfast again.

Thanks,

Jim Short
