HAPPY OCTOBER
USARM Members
Witch

It is once again time to think about USARM elections. There are 3 USARM Board of Directors seats up for election or re-election this year.

If you would like to run for the USARM BoD, please email your candidates statement to kati@redshift.com NO LATER than 15 October. These statements will appear, along with the election ballots, in the November Grid.

There are exciting events up-coming in the next year and the USARM 2006 Board of Directors will be very active to insure that you, the members of USARM, are kept informed.

Please bear in mind that by "throwing your name in the hat" that the requirements will be a BoD meeting EVERY month, usually in the Freemont, San Jose area. This by no means says that our outlaying members are not eligible; it just makes it more of a challenge to coordinate meetings.

USARM BoD is responsible for the financial activity, the social activities and the day-to-day operations of this vital organization.

Please submit your statement so that it can be included in with the ballots in the November Grid.

Thank you,

Kati James
President
USARM

Laguna Seca has given USARM t-shirts for everyone who worked MotoGP. They are NOT the official t-shirt of the event, but it is a fairly nice white shirt with MotoGP 2005 & the logo on one sleeve, an outline of Laguna on the front and a strip of abstract motorcycles on the back. I have sizes Large thru 2 X Large, nothing else.

I have given these shirts to those of you whom I have seen at recent events but want to make sure that if those of you, whom I don't have the pleasure of seeing often, have the opportunity to get one. I will be happy to mail your shirt if you send an envelope (8 1/2" x 11", self-addressed and with enough postage to cover mailing, (aprox $2.44) to me at: 9650 Oracle Oak, Salinas, CA 93907.

I wish I could personally hand each of you a shirt but this is the only way I can distribute them to the terrific USARM group of folks who worked so hard at MotoGP.

Thanks & hope to get lots of envelopes soon.

Kati

The USARM Board of Directors has received several responses from members stepping up to take the chair position for MotoGP 2006!

It is hoped to announce the new chair in the November Grid. At that point, the new chairperson can begin to form the committee that will make sure that the MotoGP 2006 is a great event.
Once the USARM BoD names the chairperson, the chairperson will be asking for YOUR help to serve in various positions to benefit the MotoGp 2006 committee.
USARM members are a special group of folks who always come together to continue to make USARM proud.

The financial report had very minimal activity. Kati James will send it out to the Board via e-mail. We had one copy of the financial report at the meeting. Jim Short reported that the last Russell School for the year will be October 22-23. Coronado is scheduled for October 7, 8 and 9.

It is time to think about the annual USARM Banquet

Again this year, Steve Johnson has been able to book the Biltmore Hotel & Suites for this fun evening.

Mark your calendar for February 11th! This is a Saturday evening of fun, USARM 'silliness', awards, great food and even better company.

The menu is being finalized but there are several new items to tempt you this year. There will be appetizers at 6 P.M. in Hopps Bar before dinner this year, to give you a better chance to view all the fun raffle prizes expected.

Dinner is set to go about 7:00 with the annual USARM Member Awards to follow.

Dinner prices will be kept the same as they were last year, with members paying $17.00 for dinner, non-members paying $20.00. A no host bar will also be available during the evening.

A training seminar, much the same as last years, is being planned by Jim Short. So if you missed it last year, plan to attend this year.

The cost for the rooms & suites has been kept as they were last year; Garden Rooms for $69.00 and Tower Suites at $89.00. All room reservations MUST be made directly with the Biltmore Hotel & Suites, identifying USARM, to get this rate. Rooms & suites are limited so reserve early. Free parking is also offered at the hotel.

More information will be coming out soon to announce the menu selections and give more details about the fun event, giving you a chance to participate in the training seminars and to enjoy the evening with USARM in a fun social atmosphere.

If anyone would like to assist in procuring raffle prizes, please contact Steve Johnson at sjohnson408@hotmail.com

Let's make this years' banquet even bigger than last years by supporting USARM in this informative and fun, social event!

Recently one of our long time USARM members found himself on the other end of a response. Jud VanGorder was injured at T-9, Laguna Seca. Jud is recovering at home but I am sure he would love to hear from any of the USARM membership. You can send you best wishes for a fast recovery to Jud at:
jvangorder@mindspring.com

"In my 25 seasons of Flag and Com, various communities of workers have become my extended family. The latest and best (of course) is our USARM. But I didn't realize how much you all meant until yesterday, when I stumbled beside the Turn 9 box at Laguna Seca and ruptured a tendon in my leg (must have mixed up my hayfoot and my strawfoot). Thanks to Chet, Roger, Sal, and whom-ever else helped my stretcher over the wall and into the AMR ambulance, where Dave and Susan gave me a smooth ride to Monterey Community Hospital. The folks in the E.R. there were great. Thanks to the Yellow Cabbie who knew I was limited on cash and gave me a flat rate ride back to Laguna without turning on the meter. (Yeah, I'd left my cell phone in my car.) Thanks to Gary, who put me up for the afternoon in a sky suite with a color TV, and checked on me. (I was sure I'd never get into one any other way!) And a special thanks to Dave and Kati who went out of their way to drive me home to Santa Cruz in my own car. Thanks to all of you who expressed concern, and forgive me if I overlooked anyone. I'll see the orthopedic surgeon Thursday, and we'll take it from there. My first thought was that this might be a sign from above, telling me it was time to hang up the whites. But again, it may be a reminder to stay a part of this wonderful group as long as I'm able.
Safety first! - Jud"
