It's Election Time

This year there are 3 openings on the Board of Directors and only two people have thrown their name into the hat. Elections are to be held sometime in January so there is still time if you are interested. So, for those of you who are wanting to contribute to the USARM club a little bit more, please let a board member know you are interested. Statements will be needed and sent out in the Grid and with the election materials.

Candidate Statements

Hello All,

I have been on the board for four years now, and I will run again. However I would really like to lose and see other members on the board of directors. We only meet once a month and takes about 10-30 hours of time a month, depending on how many events you chose to run. I feel the change in the board directors is a good thing, as attitudes change over time and the board must change with them. If you feel my attitude and beliefs are close to yours vote for me, otherwise please vote for others.

OH and get off your duff and run for the Board.

My name is Ann Chamberlain and I would like to represent you as a member of the USARM Board. My earliest activities with USARM was a member for several years back in the `70s. Then about 5 or 6 years ago I rejoined USARM and have been a member ever since. I joined SCCA in 1975 and have been a member ever since, working such positions a Flagger/Turn Marshall for 26 years, Assistant Chief of Flags for 11 years, Communicator for 6 years, and have worked Tech when they were shorthanded for 3 years. For three years I worked for Victory Lane Magazine (a vintage sports car racing magazine). I am presently employed by Sears Point Raceway to work their test days.

One of the reasons I am running for the Board is that I am concerned with the safety of our sport and feel that proper training of new workers is essential. Also I would like to promote consistency in our flagging and communication procedures.

The members of USARM are like an extended family to me. I feel I can help USARM by being an active, committed Board member. I am open-minded and honest, a good listener. I do not represent a specific point of view, but want my point of view to reflect the desires of the members.

Please give me your support in the upcoming election.

Ann Chamberlain

During the Winter

Now that the race season has come to a close, this is a good time to check all of your gear and repair/replace as necessary. I know that my gear gets scattered all over during the last month between the various vehicles I use and needs to be brought back together and inventoried.

Another thing to do during our time off is to review the manual. Every member was sent one sometime in July. You can also check it out online.

Happy Holidays

We all wish you a very safe and happy holiday. Remember, be responsible and don't drink and drive. See you next year!
