What's Been Going On
USARM would like to extend it sympathies and condolences to those
that were effected by the tragic events at the World Trade Center
and the Pentagon. Many of you have probably wondered what you can
do to help. In his speech to Congress and the nation and world President
Bush spoke of a new website LibertyUnites.org, American Liberty
Partnership. There's links for donating to numerous organizations
such as the Red Cross and others. If you can't donate there's a
listing of many other things that you can do to help.
One of the best things that you can do is to donate blood or funds
to the Red Cross. The Red Cross hotline for blood donations is (800)
GIVE LIFE. The agency has asked people willing to donate blood first
to call and schedule an appointment. You can go to this website,
www.redcross.org/donate/give/, enter your zip code and it will
let you know where your local chapter of the Red Cross is located.
To donate money to Red Cross relief efforts call (800) HELP NOW.
The Red Cross also accepts donations online, go to www.redcross.org/donate/donate.html
On Saturday 9/15 (4 days after the terrorist attack), I sang the
national anthem at the Sacramento Mile, held at Cal Expo's race
track in (duh) Sacramento.
As this was the only pro sporting event in the state that day (maybe
in the country!), it was pretty well attended, and Tom and I saw
at least half a dozen (current and/or former) USARM'ers there. The
Baucoms were working Turn 4, Mike Crawford found us while searching
for earplugs, and I KNOW I heard someone yell "Hey MORGAN"
while we were standing near Start/Finish waiting for the opening
ceremonies to begin (but still don't know who that was ...).
Anyway, my anthem went well (I didn't get choked up!) and the crowd
was appropriately reverent and patriotic. I just love the motorcycle
crowd!

We also received the following letter from the Racesafe UK Motorycle
Marshals Association:
As one of your counterpart organisations in the United Kingdom,
Racesafe marshals association would like to pass on its sympathy
to all your members, with regard to the recent ghastly events
in the United States.
As a volunteer emergency services organisation we feel, as you
must too, a particular revulsion that so many members of the emergency
services, whose concern was for those who had already been injured
or killed, were added to the long list of victims.
We can do little here except pass on our sympathy and support,
which you have entirely. I hope you will pass this message on
to your members.
David Hawley, Webmaster
Racesafe UK Motorcycle Marshals Association
Thanks to Racesafe for their message of sympathy and solidarity.
