For many years, before and just after the new track configuration, there were "Burn-Out" contests in the infield camping area. The local law officers decided that this wasn't such a good idea and so started cracking down on this behavior. USARM, in conjunction with SCRAMP stepped in and had "supervised" burnout contests for a couple of years.
